The program of training the operators in North-Western Province specifically Mwinilungu and Kasempa (Solwezi, Mufumfwe) Districts was undertaken by the Cooperative Development Officer, Mill Trainer/operator. The training included theory and solar milling plant business model.
PURPOSE OF THE TRIP
• To conduct theory and practical trainings for the trainees in Mwinilunga and Kasempa Districts. The theory was conducted and included topics such as naming parts of the machine and their work principles, roll adjustments and conditioning of maize.
• Facilitation of the business model for solar milling plants to Board members on grain acquisition and marketing of mealie meal. This also included the roles of Board members, management and awareness of the Munditule Life plan from ZSIC.
The trainees in Mwinilunga and Kasempa were geared for the training. The number of trainees that participated in the operators trainings that was conducted in three days per location were as follows:
67 Operators (3 days in Mwinilunga), Board members 8
172 Operators (3 days in Kasempa), Board members 25
The attendance was good in Mwinilunga workshop because operators were more than expected few operators came from Cooperatives were mills were not fully installed yet , but in Kasempa it was quite good. The Kasempa turnout was 172 instead of 201. This was attributed to quite poor communication and the distances for operators who were coming from other district other than kasempe.
